The Access Growth LLC Innovative Youth team has selected the first winner of the Submit Your Idea Contest that culminated on June 30, 2010.  Stephanie Hayes, eleven years old from Saratoga California has won a Fujitsu netbook for her outstanding software application idea.  The contest received 100’s of interesting submissions from kids around the country with ideas for new types of hardware devices, clean tech solutions, mobile games to software applications.  Stephanie is a great representative of an Innovative Youth and we are very excited to have her part of the program.

Stephanie is a very active young person that has excelled in her school work as well as in extracurricular activities. She enjoys playing softball and anything she sets her mind on.  Her software idea relates directly to her experiences as an athlete and will be a great service for athletes of all ages participating in several different sports. Stephanie is currently working with her father and the Access Growth team to develop her idea and bring it to market by the end of the year. She has a strong entrepreneur mind, but also posses the ability to implement her ideas.   She has been working diligently to refine her software idea by providing continuous feedback and additional ideas during each stage of development. The Access Growth press team will continue to update the Innovative Youth community of Stephanie’s progress and the commercialization of her brilliant idea.

Innovative Youth^SM is an online year-round after school and summer program that was designed by Access Growth for kids ages 7 to 11 and teens ages 12 to 17 to expand their imagination, critical thinking and problem solving skills by analyzing innovation from 14 industries through the Innovative Youth Activity site.

The Access Growth LLC Innovative Youth team has expanded the current offering for participating kids and teens with the addition of a General Activities area inside the Innovative Youth Activity site.  The General Activities section includes many different short online activities for kids and teens about new ideas covering many industries including: Clean Technology, Mobile Communications, Software, Gaming, and other interesting topics.  The wide array of project themes was designed to appeal to a diverse demographic of boys and girls of different ages.  Getting young people excited about these topics and discussing their own innovative ideas is a focus for Innovative Youth and the general activities area is designed to be inclusive for all children interested in the program. 

The General Activities portion of Innovative Youth costs $50 per year and provides participants an opportunity to expand their mind.  Everyone is encouraged to think outside of the box and receives feedback from the Innovative Youth team about their ideas, suggestions, and opinions.  The activities are designed to create critical thinking while exposing children to new ideas and potential career paths. 

During the process of answering questions each participant is encouraged to think of their own ideas.  Innovative Youth has developed a proprietary method to work with children that have unique ideas and want to explore if there is a valid market opportunity for their idea. 

While the participants are learning, they are also earning points that are redeemable for prizes through scheduled raffles.

The Access Growth LLC Innovative Youth Program is committed to actively supporting kids in developing countries around the world to have access to resources and opportunities.   Innovative Youth is also interested in providing an opportunity for the kids and teens in the program to exchange ideas and communicate with others from different countries.  The Innovative Youth team has identified its first international school to support, Katipa Elementary school, in Misamis Occidental, Philippines.  The school year just recently resumed from summer break in the Philippines and many of the students lacked the basic pens, pencils, and paper notepads to do their homework. 

There were 110 students that were able to receive a “Back to School” packet from Access Growth LLC on behalf of Innovative Youth that included school supplies such as pens, pencils, a sharpener, notepad, paper, crayons, etc.  The Innovative Youth team is committed to identifying kids around the world that can use support to improve their education and get them engaged with the larger global community through interacting with us.  Innovative Youth now has a local representative in the Philippines working on developing ways to transition specific projects that are online into offline projects that can be done anywhere around the world to get young minds thinking about innovation.

Katipa Elementary school is a typical small public elementary school inside of the Philippines that does not receive all the support it needs from the local and national government due to budgets and so many of the classrooms are way overcrowded and have outdated materials and the supplies available for students to use are nearly nonexistent.  In our initial assessment of what the schools and students needed to succeed and get on the path to be ready to be the first International Innovative Youth participating school the students first would need just basic resources so that they can complete their homework that the teacher assigns and that we will have them work on.  Many students lacked the pens, pencils, and paper required for the teachers to assign work for them to complete.    “We are excited to start engaging with kids and teens in a developing country”, says Mark Godwin, CEO of Access Growth, “and look forward to include them into specific activities through our local representative that can meet with the kids and talk with them about innovation and their ideas.”
